Arthraquinones are the chemical components that make Noni so effective. The specific arthraquinone is damnacanthal. Damnacanthal has a purgative property and has a “cleansing and balancing” effect on the body. Noni contains octanoic acid. This is a natural insecticide which helps make Noni a powerful supplement to rid the body of toxic microorganisms, fungi and parasites. A recent scientific study resulted in finding a chemical constitutes of Noni called noni-ppt. Noni-ppt exhibits anti tumor activity. Researchers believe that noni-ppt activates the immune system, stimulating the release of important immune factors (i.e. tumor necrosis factor (TNF), interferon and Interleukin), which inhibit the growth of tumors. When combined with standard chemotherapy agents, noni-ppt improved the survival time with cancer. Damnacanthal is another purgative property of the fruits root exhibits therapeutic and medicinal effects. Damnacanthal inhibits cell proliferation in K-rasts-NRK cells.
